Is there an official press card?
In short: no. In Germany, there is no state-issued press card, and the term "press card" is not legally protected. The so-called nationwide uniform press card (bundeseinheitlicher Presseausweis) plays a special role. It is issued by recognised journalists' associations exclusively to full-time journalists and is accepted by authorities as simplified proof. Press cards from other issuers are expressly permitted as well. Good to know: your rights as a journalist, such as the right to request information from authorities, stem from your journalistic work, not from a specific card. A press card helps you prove that work quickly and credibly.
Press cards from Kartendruck.Shop
Our press cards are designed for everyone who works journalistically, whether full-time or part-time, as a photographer, editor or blogger. We personalise them with your details and print them as durable plastic cards in credit card size. Please note that a press card does not guarantee automatic access to events. Accreditation is always decided by the organisers.
Responsible use
A press card is a matter of trust. That's why we ask you to order one only if you actually work as a journalist and to use it exclusively for your journalistic work. Anyone who uses a press card to obtain benefits or access they're not entitled to damages the reputation of all media professionals and may face legal consequences.
